Hon. Colonial Secretary,

1.

High Power Wireless Telegraphy Station.

We have the honour to report that we have met this day to consider the question of the selection of a site for a High Power Wireless Telegraphy Station and have come to the following

conclusion:-

(a). If there is no unforeseen Military objection, a suitable

site could be arranged on the North and East shores of

Stonecutters Island.

(b). In case of such objection, we would suggest, as an

alternative, the foreshore between the Standard Oil Depot at Laichikok and Kau Pa Kang Village.

2. Both these sites lend themselves (if necessary) to the suggestion in paragraph III of the previous committee's report dated 13th. February, 1912, namely, the erection of a station partly on the foreshore and partly in the water. They also comply with the suggestion contained in paragraph 3 of the Secretary of State's Confidential Despatch of 20th. December, 1912, namely, that the site should be to the West of Kowloon Old City and that no high hills should intervene between it and Singapore.

Site (a) appears to possess the following exceptional

3.

advantages:-

i.

ii.

iii.

iv.

Easily defensible.

Isolated from outside interference or espionage. Exceptionally well sheltered from typhoons, etc. Outside the range of any possible future commercial

development.
